mybrainshark brings your presentation to a new level

Editor's Review

Highly recommended

The good: You can add audio to your power point presentation. Not just ordinary audio but your voice, personalising it into a real presentation. The free account is as good the premium account.
The bad: Few technical glitches.
The bottomline: Here is a breakthrough tool. So many things can be done with this tool and fortunately even the free account is suffice to blow one’s mind of its ability. There is another similar tool called present.me that worths looking too.

Here is a tutorial on how to use mybrainshark with Russell Stannard.

While click here for part 2 of the video - Working with Pictures and Videos.

How might you use it to foster language learning

Giving Feedback

Giving feedback is very important in a learning process. What you can do is to give feedback to students’ works or assignments by highlighting the erroneous part of their works and provide brief explanation and suggestions on how the works can be refined. All these can be done simultaneously and students can take note of areas to be improved and good qualities that should be retained. Written feedback maybe effective however, an oral feedback is fascinating.

Long-distance Class

With videos and audio enriched presentation, you might even think to take your class to a completely
new dimension where it is possible to set classes during school holidays. No more reason to miss your class.

Rationale

Glitches

It occurs to me that mybrainshark does not support certain features in Microsoft PowerPoint 2010. I tried to use few of the not so common fonts available and they came out as scrawls instead. By far, mybrainshark enables animation in the presentation but not all.

Not live

It is just a suggestion but it will be great if the presentation can be done live. Students can actually feel the interaction and that they know they are listening to a real person.
